MIAMI HERALD – EARTHLY DELIGHTS AT 1 HOTEL SOUTH BEACH

April 23, 2015

Liubasha Rose at 1 Hotel South Beach Earth Day party

The recently opened mega eco-friendly 1 Hotel South Beach was the place to be on Earth Day Wednesday evening.

VIP guests like TV star JR Ramirez (Starz’ Power) got the first glimpse of the property’s nature-oriented lobby art installation, created by Wynwood-based terrarium specialist Plant the Future and artist Andrew Antonaccio. Think lots of moss and clean, white lines.

Other green-focused happenings included 1 Hotel’s VP of Design Liubasha Rose walking about the crowd in a “living dress,” with grass peeking out of the hem.

There was also a preview of the Dark Sky experience — saving electricity with candles galore — and stargazing programming, thanks to the property’s partnership with the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science.

On Tuesday, STK Miami held a seriously grand re-opening celebration at its new venue in at the same hotel. The invite-only soiree saw more than 500 attendees, such as Miami Heat players Chris “Birdman” Andersen, Luol Deng and Michael Beasley, along with model Selita Ebanks, Tell it to My Heart singer Taylor Dayne and Dwyane Wade Sr.

Go see all the impressive for-the-planet initiatives at the 426-room hotel (formerly the Gansevoort at 2341 Collins Ave., Miami Beach) for yourself. Take a tour, or here’s another excuse — from 8-10 p.m. Friday, live music via singer-songwriter Brendan O’Hara will be played at the Tom on Collins lobby bar.
