Auberge Resorts elevates the look of the Madeline Hotel & Residences with the help of Rose Ink Workshop.
“We were inspired by Telluride’s mountainous summer in bloom and the crisp contrast of snow-covered peaks,” says designer Liubasha Rose of Rose Ink Workshop on the design direction of Madeline Hotel & Residences. “We looked to Swiss Chalet style and Alps decor and mixed in a uniquely local sensibility to create an environment that is timeless, nostalgic and spans continents.” Auberge enlisted Rose Ink Workshop to reimagine the 44,000-square-foot mountain enclave as “a more open yet cozy environment that would create a lot of buzz,” Rose notes.
With the goal of curating a “new mountain style,” the redesign focused on playful textures, patterns and color. “We feel luxury interiors need layers and stories to create a dynamic and timeless environment,” says Rose. “In the case of the Madeline, we added a bit of sheen in select areas and played with snowy textures in white throughout the design, creating a space that feels as fresh as the mountain itself but is still layered in wood and cozy fabrics for warmth and comfort.”
A defiant departure from traditional ski-escape design, the Madeline is welcoming, warm and full of personality. “We created a Madeline that is intimate, comfortable, luxurious in quality and a little undone—as if it’s always been like that,” says the designer. “It’s an American ski resort that feels like it could be in the Alps; it really doesn’t look like anything else.”
